Okay, this is going to be my first 3d printer build. As of right now it is planned to be a Prusa I3 box frame. Here are the parts I am going to use, I wanted someone to check and make sure I wasn't forgetting some thing. Also what would be the best kind of wood for the frame?

    2x 470mm 8mm smooth rod
    2x 370mm 8mm smooth rod
    2x 400mm M10 threaded rod
    4x 205mm M8 threaded rods
    2x 405mm 8mm smooth rod
    2x 370mm M5 threaded rod

Unless you are set on making and obtaining everything from scratch, you may want to consider this:

Seems like a really good deal.

I added up my total and it is about $430 for everything in the list. It seems to be cheaper to build everything from scratch.

It is ofc cheaper but also alot more hard and (anoying if you have problems/gotta buy other parts due they dont fit and such)

I've got the makerfarm 8inch and realy got no problems, works very good, Except i would go for the Jhead instead of Magma.

The list looks good. I've built built one using high quality plywood salvaged from furniture. I would avoid particle board if possible although it could be made to work if done properly.

I've only needed 4 stepper drivers for the RAMPS 1.4. Both of my Z axis motors are paired on one driver. Works well on two machines.

Personally I've found no advantage of any kind with the Makerbot style Mechanical Endstops V1.2. I much prefer simple limit switches. If you want six, are you planning on one at the beginning and end of each axis? If so, five inexpensive Micro Switch type limit switches would be good, with the sixth one being a higher quality one, like maybe a Micro Switch V3 101, I'm testing one of those right now. The better switch needs to be at the bottom of the Z axis BTW.

I should add, if you build the Y carriage out of wood, make sure to paint it. That helps keep it dimensionally stable.

Agree, use plywood. More plys is better and Baltic Birch is really nice but pricey. I used a 2 x 4 ' x 1/2" piece of oak plywood for the box. Was able to cut 7 strips from it and then cut them to length from there. As for dual endstops...I have never needed them on any of my CNC machines including both Prusa's. I see that T5 belts are not recommended (it's what I use on my Prusa i2) anymore, so may want to consider a different belt and pulleys.

I didn't notice the belt type, but it is true GT2 belts are better(and get the 20 tooth pulleys). My Prusa i1 with the T2.5 belt creates ribbing patterns on the printed parts that match the belt pitch. The GT2 has a finer pitch and is less likely to do that. I'll be testing that soon on the Prusa i3

Another question what would be better a double extruder or a single?
