I successfully printed one of the canned programs on the included SD card when I first got the printer. After the first print I plugged the USB into my computer since I do not have an SD port. Upon doing this, the LCD screen went blank and showed two horizontal lines, the printer stopped, and nothing happened. When I unplugged everything and turned the power back on to the printer without the USB plugged in everything works as it should except the heat bed. The LCD displays "low" in place of the bed temp.
This is an open source printer that uses a Mega 2650 with what looks like a custom shield and a standard LCD display. I attempted to check the thermister for continuity, but I didn't get a check.
I have experience building and working with 3D printers and have never seen a case where just plugging in the USB would cause the printer to fail. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? I emailed the company, but who knows how long it will be.
