I'm in the middle of buying parts and putting together a RepRap Huxley, and wanted some input before ordering a motor for the extruder. I'm planning on using a good high-torque Nema 17 stepper, but wondered whether there would be any advantage to using a 400-step motor (0.9 degree per step) versus the typical 200-step (1.8 degree) stepper. My reasoning is that the extruder is the part that would benefit most from a finer amount of control over motor speed, as opposed to a higher maximum speed.
Since this is my first printer project, I'd like to start off with as many of the best parts as I can, and not have to replace too much too soon. Any advice would be most welcome.
