Plastic Parts

Hi everyone.
I started acumulating parts to build the Prusa Mendel about when the design first came out. I didn't have spare cash to buy everything at once. I'm wanting to finally get the final parts, including the main plastic parts. The original idea was that someone from the community prints them for free, and gives them to the next person to do the same for the next etc. Is this still what happens? I've been away from the community for a while.

... this "habit" was thrown over board with the rise of the cheapish chinese clones at amazon for prices of 100 USD or such new ... and a lot of used printers around, as the people tend to update to a bigger/faster/flashier and sell the previous for cheap ...

You have somewhat missed the boat on this one...

But there are now lots of people and places with 3d printers (and some are rather fast)

I suggest you ask at a local maker space... see if anyone is willing/able to help. (I'm on the wrong island...)
