I'm running Sketchup on the Mac and importing STL files to Sketchup using the Jim Foltz plug in.
When I measure an STL in sketchup a part that prints, as expected, at 100mm long measures as being 2540mm long.

How can I set sketchup to give me the right size?

Check for an option for working in mm. it seems you are in inches here
dont have sketchup, but stl dont state unit only that the dimension of the part is XXX units. Obviously skp convert it to inches here

@TerryKidd - When you choose the STL file for import there is an options button to the right-handside. You have to select this and choose "millimeters" to import with the correct units.

Thanks Gary that certainly gets the STL in at the right size.

However, when I reexport it, using cadspan, it is needs to be rescaled by 2540% to appear to be the right size on the Slic3r plate.

Hmmm, I can't comment for cadspan as I haven't used it. I use the STL exporter plugin from this page and it explicitly asks you what units to export in.

I have both Jim Fotlzs' import and export utilities, and each has unit control.

Thanks Gary I've used the plug in you pointed me to and that works a treat!

xiando, I'd have probably saved myself some trouble if I'd have looked for Fotlzs' export plugin, didn't think of it. I used cadspan.
