Software to view G-Code toolpath

Is there any software to view NC-Code toolpath and add hollow supports as needed before generating G-Code for the 3d printer ?

ReplicatorG software cannot preview any support structures. Is there any other software out there that can build g-code for 3d printing? -Would GibbsCam or MasterCam work ?

Thanks! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Also have a look at this:

[code.google.com]

Allows you to convert gcode to a format you can visualize with the very cool paraview

Hey Lanthan !

Hey, so that software PARAVIEW -can you select a specific area of the model, and have it INFILL to 100% ? ? Is there any software that does this?

I like watching the prints layer by layer, and I would like some areas to have more material than others.

Alas, no (that would be the giant pie in the sky with diamonds).
Paraview is "just a viewer", it will let you have a general view of the moves in and around your object, color-coded by execution time, move length, etc. if you want, but in no way an editor.
To promote infill / reinforcement of some regions: PrusaJr came ou some time ago with a very clever scheme to draw tiny, tiny little holes through parts of the object, skeinforge then puts additional shells around those holes. Works well!

Yeah, watching those prints is truly fascinating. I can relate.

Contributes to weirdness aura within the family too ;-)

Nice, another very interesting blog to read made it into my bookmarks. Looks like I could spend my life reading on reprap winking smiley

... yet we still are missing key background information, structural calculations, applied research etc. in many domains important for the continuing development of the project . Also: feel free to write up and publish the syntheses and conclusions of your readings & information hunting-gathering!

@deux
@Lanthan
I have only been printing for 3 days, but it took a month to build.
This stuff is addicting
I could print for the rest of me life.
But like you saying lanthan, this is much more of a hobby platform.
With the exception of Makerbot and Ultimaker.

But to move this whole movement forward we need to reduce the difficulty getting involved.
I went through 3 firmwares before finding sprinter.
3 printer communicators before i found pronterface,
The wiki here is good but can be hard to follow,
With contradicting info that mostly just links to outside websites.
I enjoyed the whole process of finding the right fit, but wow it was daunting.

Now im trying to find a good editor to make some 3d models.
I have tried a few but not quite intuitive enough for me.
The electronics were easy, its my field of study, but 3d editing is new to me and pretty exciting.

Wow that was long winded.
Sorry for the ramble, im just a lil passionate about this whole 3d printing thing.
Its kind of a mind blower.

But back to the topic.
Skeinforge will allow you to view the whole model, each layer individually, but i dont think you can change infill on a per layer basis.

Wow all that for a one line response.
haha
Happy prints

Welcome on board 420e! Glad you're enjoying it.

A couple of years ago I discovered this coven and was like "How could I have entirely missed all this ongoing stuff about personal fabrication!". It is every micron as exciting as hacking computers was... many years ago, and the atmosphere of technological diffusion & learning is much similar, only more powerful.

I copied a Makerbot (a good way to get into deep learning mode), and I can guarantee you it is as hacky as a reprap. All depends how you approach printing. Commercials aren't to be believed.

There's a lot of experimentation to begin (firmwares for example), that is normal. You get a better idea of what works for you that way.

Now back to viewing gcode...

If you're not satisfied with the wiki, you should start editing the wiki instead.

I'm glad you found a working combination, others have success with different software choices.
