Yeah, I have a love/hate relationship with Mendel Parts - love their products, hate the customer service. Camiel is great when you can get him on the phone (he's usually there at the hours he lists), it just takes me getting up at 4am to try to catch him. I can't post on the forums because I haven't been approved, and I've been waiting 2 weeks. I've got my Orca, but stuck and waiting for someby Anx - General
I'd throw one more in the mix, and that's Mendel-Parts.com's Orca v0.3 - I ordered one a few weeks back (which I believe just shipped today), and it looks like it's going to be a great machine, and still under the $1000 price point you set. It also has the advantage of being built out of aluminum making it very rigid (and very fast)... Of course, I don't have it yet, so who knows, but I'm optimiby Anx - General

FWIW, I ordered an Orca 0.30 a few weeks ago, and by mistake did the order twice. I sent a support email detailing the situation, but then saw the blog which said he preferred to get a phone call if it's important. I tried calling, and on the second attempt (the same day) he answered - I told him why I was calling and it was clear he had already read my email so was up to speed with it. It tooby Anx - General
