So sent the defective heads I had back to DIYTechShop March 3, they confirmed they received the heads March 21 (after poking). And now here we are on April 11 , and still nothing new received from them. I still poke them regularly (weekly or so) , the most recent email was from someone who said they had no idea what the email thread was about but they would look into it. This might be a more speby dwalker - General
I'm just waiting to see if they solved the problem , but I payed for a hotend so I expect to get one that works.. I figure I can do dual extruders with the second one.by dwalker - General
Just an update .. I sent two defective hotends back to DIYTechshop Mar. 3 .. They should have recieved them a few days later, but haven't heard back from them since. Sent an email yesterday , but no response .. Not super surprising I suppose.. I hope other are getting replacements also.by dwalker - General
Maybe I'm making it sounds harder than it is.. Just use pliers to tighten it..by dwalker - General
Yeah, once you take the heating block off, there's a bullet looking part which screws off the plastic. Inside you'll find a plastic tube (PTFE tubing). The filament runs thru the plastic tubing. I read someplace in this forum a guy had a similar problem as you. He thought the plastic tube didn't seat right against the brass , so he added teflon tape around the plastic tube where it inserts intoby dwalker - General
You emailed me , I didn't speak to you on the phone , but whatever .. I get the feeling that they don't want to fix the tolerance problem with their hotends , it's more like get people replacements and stop this thread from continuing ..by dwalker - General
I guess that's good for you, but they aren't responding to me ;(by dwalker - General
I sent numerous emails to diytechshop on this topic, which is how I got a second hotend. I was never asked to send anything back .. Not only that but getting any sort of response from diytechshop is very difficult .. I also emailed detailed descriptions of what was happening with my hot end with measurements, and pictures to clist@diytecby dwalker - General
The two I got were 1.75 .. It was two different ones also, the first was a "j-head" , the second one was they little brass hot end similar to n9jcv's picture.by dwalker - General
I got an E3D hot end to replace the defective one. I used the original mounting plate for the jhead, but I flipped it over because the groove didn't hold the e3d correctly. I'm planning to print a proper one once the machine is running, but this rigged one works relatively well. In terms of the overall kit , I would say it's hit and miss. Most of the stuff works just fine, and other stuff worksby dwalker - General
Hi all, I just wanted to relate my experience with these hot ends in case others run into the same things. I got a Prusa I3xl kit from diytechshop back in Nov. 2013. Once it was all built the biggest problem was the hot end would jam, but it wasn't just jammed it was fully blocked. I didn't really understand what was happening just that very little plastic got extruded. After doing lots of tesby dwalker - General
I ordered an i3xl kit Nov. 2013 time frame, they responded to my first few emails in a reasonable period of time. However, after the first few the length of time extends in their responses, and I have literally two or three emails to them with no response .. The fact that you got no response is not suprising at all, I would expect anyone that orders from them will experience that. These aren't mby dwalker - General
