I too am interested in a variable speed controlled cooling fan. I connected a SunOn 40x40x20 fan directly to the fan0 terminals and was able to get on-off control. I'm guessing zombiepantslol connected his SunOn fan using the MOSFET (2N7000) for variable speed control. Is this correct? If not, are there other ways to achieve variable speed without adding the extra components (other than a fanby RedMD - Ormerod
Same issue here. I fried my L7 inductor trying to hook up a mosfet driver for an extruder fan. I am not sure if the mosfet driver was the issue or my multitester probe shorting things. I really need to stop blowing this inductor. Given the frequency of my stupidity, I attempted to use my rework station to replace the inductor or short the burnt connection. 3DTOPO, Thanks so much for your video. I recognize that video was a lot of effort and I've been looking for something like this to get me started. You mentioned reading an intro book in your video. Any suggestions on books worth reading would be appreciated. Thanks againby RedMD - Casting and Moldmaking Working Group
I ran into the same issue with the ormerod 2 bed. It was working fine for 4 or 5 builds but then I ran into the same issue you ran into (see attached pic). I got to it too late (I had stepped away from the build for an hour), so my board is fried. I've sent a support email to reprap. Hopefully, they've got a good solution in the works. Of note, the nut was tight when I first built the printerby RedMD - Ormerod
