Dude... We understand your concept... I don't understand the hype with the captive steppers, i don't think its the best way to go, to me you are overcomplicating things , for 350x350 you can even get by with 3 regular leadscrews coupled with a closed loop belt and supported by linear rails(don't do round rods plz)....Oh and here's a "novel" idea,if you are so sought after using independent motorsby lukaCX - CoreXY Machines
Hey digital dentist nice build! I really like your z axis an would like to implement it on a bot i'm building, do you think something like this would work instead of the RINO worm gear? no specs on it though it might be not very precise :/by lukaCX - CoreXY Machines
Yes nice point, being able to preload the bearings is also why i'm interested in them, the rail i posted is 35mm wide and the carriage is 10mm thick alu that's why i'm thinking it should be sufficient for use without supports as the x axis of the gantry for a big bot(500mm), just my guess though I've been using solidworks for a couple of years now, i really should learn how to do FEA analasys aby lukaCX - CoreXY Machines
What are the rated dynamic loads that say a high speed Core XY motion generates? I see robotdigg has some new linear motion parts i.e. these 35mm roller guides, they look perfect for a long bare x-bridge i'm asking because i want to start designing a new machine with 500x500x600 build space that's also high speed and i'm interested to see what my limitations are.. thanks!by lukaCX - CoreXY Machines
You can kind of see them in the video as wellby lukaCX - CoreXY Machines
Very sorry about those bad photos, i'm going to up a full gallery, first i want to finish the whole thing 100% and upload the CAD files... In the meantime if anyone is interested i can upload the .dwg files for the laser cut plates and specify the frame dimensions respectively..by lukaCX - CoreXY Machines

Yes my mistake , even if you do a z-hop move you need to accelerate more that 9800mm/s ) To quote Jetguy on this matter: "Here's the problem you fail to account for when using an antibacklash leadscrew nut for an X and Y axis and further, why on a Z axis it is an added cost with no benefit. An antibacklash nut contains is a second nut that is spring loaded to ensure the inevetible last betweenby lukaCX - Mechanics
Sorry for not being clear, thats what i meant ...You would only need to use an anti backlash nut if you used commands like z hop....by lukaCX - Mechanics
Backlash doesn't matter in Z because you only need to go down and gravity acts as anti backlash..... It would make a difference if you used z-hop or something...Ditch the anti backlash parts of the nut you dont need them(it can even cause you more trouble than be of any use) I think that the setup difficulty is the same with either 2 or 3, except that you have a leadscrew plus to sync...You areby lukaCX - Mechanics
I just built a triple leadscrew core xy with 60cm Z travel. I have robotdigg mgn12 rails for the Z axis. It seems to be working fine no wobble or banding as far as i can tell. The kind of tricky bit is getting everything square and in sync.. Also buying high quality leadscrews because if they are not all machined the same that can lead to z banding...by lukaCX - Mechanics
You should post this in the DIY SLA google plus communityby lukaCX - Look what I made!
QuoteGr3ymatter What are your pain points with SLA printing? What sucks about it? If you could prioritize only one of the following what would it be? Print Quality? Speed? Price? As i mentioned earlier - our current build time is 6 hours. How do you feel about that? What about affordability? i can't guarantee i will be able to bring the BOM cost down as it all depends on the various sources i canby lukaCX - Look what I made!
Here is something i designed that is based on dnewman/jetguy triple leadscrew builds, im based in europe so sourcing parts was a little more expensive that thought everything cost about ~1800 eu not including shipping 2040 aluminum extrusion frame from ratrig Running it on a mightyboard with sailfish firmware, MGN 12 rails everywhere(stainless steel from robotdigg for XY gantry, very happy with tby lukaCX - CoreXY Machines
