Thanks to the guys at Romsraj, we really enjoyed ourselves !!!by keffin - Singapore RUG
That's great Justblair. Just wondering, what is the major advantage of a rotary encoder. Wouldn't individual buttons like the Makerbot Interface Kit be more convenient, especially for controlling the motors? Kby keffin - General
Thanks Sublime, I was hoping for already finished example for use with Mendels. Looks like this is going to be a new project for me ! Keffby keffin - General
KP, Yes, I'd love to attend. I've fixed up the hardware to my Durbie variant. Maybe on Monday night I can try a test print, and you can help me if I get into any trouble ! Kevinby keffin - Singapore RUG
Hi guys, Makerbot has the Interface Kit which allows control of the printer without hooking it up to a computer. I haven't noticed anything like that for the Reprap. Surely it is because I have been looking in the wrong places? Can anybody point me in the right direction ? Thanks, Keffby keffin - General
Way back when we were still using 5.25" and 3.5" disks, I used to get fungus on the media that would ruin them. I found the easiest and best way to keep them dry was to pour half an inch of silica gel pellets into a sealable glass jar, lay a piece of paper kitchen towel on top, then put my disks / diskettes into the jar. You can see when the silica gel turns pink through the clear glass. I simplyby keffin - General
I live in a very humid climate, and need be able to regenerate the dessicant. I think the kind used for photographic equipment is a good direction. It changes colour (blue to pink I think) when it is saturated. Its easily regenerated with some heat from a stove.by keffin - General

I live in Singapore and it is 1 degree north of the equator. Daily temperatures never vary outside 25 to 35 C ( 77 to 95 F), relative humidty between 50 to 90s, rainfall is 2.4m (92") a year.by keffin - General
I seem to get best results at 245 C. But the quality of the prints is almost, but still not as good as the Makerbot filament tho. With the Makerbot filament I can get nice top surfaces with 2 layers. With Esunpla ABS, I need to use 3 layers for reliable results. Kby keffin - Singapore RUG
It would be interesting to do a poll to get a feel of the statistics. The poll feature doesn't seem to be activated in this forum? Keffby keffin - General
Its 3mm. It seems to be a little goopier than the Makerbot filament, even at 210. I am testing at lower temps. Kby keffin - Singapore RUG
Update: Esunpla has apologised and I have accepted it. Will test out their filament and see if it gives good prints. Kby keffin - Singapore RUG
Hey guys, Where do you guys get your ABS supplies from? I bought some from Esunpla, we agreed on 10 colours of ABS 1 kg each. What I received was 7 colours of 1.5 kg ABS and 1 kg (i think) of PLA. Upon query, they told me they only had 1.5 spools and the remaining colours were not up to par. WTF? Has anybody else ordered from them, and what was your experience like? Thanx Glyn, I downloaded it but found it did not interface with Skeinforge. Anyways I found out you are using it with Repsnapper and I will try that. From first impressions it looks much user friendly. Kby keffin - Singapore RUG
Hey guys, I am pulling my hair out trying to work with Skeinforge 35. The settings are so esoteric, and some work and some just don't. It is quite frustrating. Does anybody have recommendations which G Code generator is easy to use and stable? Thanks, Keffby keffin - Singapore RUG
I went to visit Romsraj the other day. The Durbie is a modified Prusa Mendel. The good thing is that they have eliminated one stepper for the Z axis. Their design strategy is to go for simplest and easiest to install, which also means minimising the part count. Of course this has the happy result of bring the price down too ! If you need individual parts and not the kits, they are also helpful aby keffin - Singapore RUG
