It is a 3 wire fan. You were correct, it was just the reversion. I tried it by disassembling the fan and printing something and the fan blew in the correct direction. Thank you for the detailed explanation.von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
It is strange. When testing my fan like discribed in the manual with "M106" it blows downwards. But when I print something it blows upwards. I opened the gcode file which was created with Slic3r and it states for example "M106 s199" but I couldn´t find anything that looks like it would be reversing the fan direction.von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
QuoteAssemble as shown below with the fan label downwards and the wires exiting nearest the leftmost screw in the picture. The label on my fan is pointing downwards. I checked if I attached a wire the wrong way around but couldn´t find anything like that either.von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Hi, I just noticed that my fan is blowing upwards, that is, away from the hotend. I was of the impression that it was supposed to blow air at the hotend. Or is it supposed to suck hot air away from the hotend?von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
It appears that was the case. Thank you very much.von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Hi, I´m quite certain that I have seen a thread about this problem in the past but I couldn´t find it anymore. Most of my prints work decently but sometimes the X-Axis seems to be offset after printing a while. This happens maybe in one out of ten prints. At a certain layer the X-Axis seems to shift a bit to the right and keeps doing that for several layers. Then it stops shifting and prints normvon Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Wow.

Thank you. After printing a couple of test objects it seems that everything is working fine. Print quality is good and the scale is correctvon Lumpengnom - Mendel90
I did some further testing. I meassured the distance between the bed and the nozzle with the bed all the way to the front on the y axis and the x axis centered. This distance is from bed to nozzle is 206.5mm give or take 0.1mm or 0.2mm. - I reset marlin to default by using the one from the data stick provided to go sure no other settings are changed. - I set the z_home_pos from 203.0 to 206.5von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
The only steps_per_mm I can find in the Configuration.h file is E_STEPS_PER_MM but the way I understand it this only concerns the extruder. I found the following line: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,200*16/1,E_STEPS_PER_MM} and if I understand you correctly i should change that line to: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,200*16/1*(145.4/143.25),E_STEPS_PER_MM} and chavon Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Ok, so I meassured an object with a pair of digital calipers and got a result of 143.25. Then I put the object on the hotbed and touched the nozzle to it. The M114 command gave me a z = 145.40 This is with the firmwares Z_HOME_POS still at 206.7von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
The glass is on the bed fixed with the bull clamps. I checked the couplings and tightened them and recalibrated but had the same issue. I checked if the Z lead screws are inserted into the couplings far enough and I checked if the motors and other parts are somehow assembled differently than in the manual but couldn´t find anything. It is repeatable. I tried it several times and allways got thevon Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Yes it is the standard nophead kit and the firmware provided. I increased the z_home_pos to 206.7 and now reaches the bed. Did I perhaps install the Z lead screws incorrectly?von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
I am trying to level the bed according to the manual. It states that I should "nudge the Z axis to just touch your feeler". I moved the nozzle to the minimum of the Z-Axis via pronterface but the nozzel is still about 3 or 4 milimeters away from the bed. How do I get the bed closer to the nozzel?von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
It stops now. I am not sure what I have done differently this time but it appears to work.von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Should it stop 1mm short of the limit switch only when using the home button or also when using the normal move buttons? If the former is the case what could be causing the problem in my setup?von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Thank you. I don´t really need it I just thought that I might have connected something incorrectly but if it is normal that is fine.von Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Hi, I am currently in the progress of setting up the software. - I connected with Pronterface and tested the limit switches with M119 and they all work correctly. - I tested the motors and they move in the correct directions when pressing the different -x, x, -y and so on buttons in Pronterface. - The X home, Y home and Z home buttons work as well. However the motors will move beyond the switcvon Lumpengnom - Mendel90
Hi, I am currently building a Mendel90 and am a bit stuck with the wiring. The Manual on page 65 shows a table which wires should be connected to which conntector on the Melzi. First I assumed that the sequence given in the Manual was the same as on the Melzi but when looking at the photograph in the manual two pages further it becomes apparent that the sequence is different.
