Thank You all for the advice.
Still trying to track down this issue. I can't find any sources of movement. I can flex/pivot the x carriage a small amount but it requires quiet a bit of force. I tightened my belts and pulleys and marked them to check for slip (none)
I dont think that I am printing too quickly (30 mm/s). I'm using Marlin 1.0, here is the current accleration section:

It doesn't look like it is the hot end moving during the print.
Do you think it could be a firmware setting?
When I upgraded to Marlin 1.0 the default settings for the machine accelerations were much bigger than what I had previously. I set them back at what I was using before. Maybe I messed a setting up though and the steppers are getting moved to quick and skipping?

I don't think it is ZWobble because the waves are not consistent anytime and have a much larger period on average than standard wobble pictures I've seen.
It it a V1.0 Mendelmax with 8mm rods.
If you look at the 20mm box, I would consider that fairly OK quality.
I uploaded a second picture of the other part in the orientation I printed it in to give a bit better context.

Hi All,
Looking to obtain some help with getting my Mendel Max printing better. I've been printing for a while but never been super happy with my prints so I upgraded my X and Y carriages to LM8UU holders, leadscrews, a .35mm nozzle (from .5mm) and a heat build plate. I ordered these parts and the quality is great so I'm going to rule those out as the issue.
After some trouble shooting I've go

Hi All,
Looking for some help with getting my Mendel Max working again. I did some upgrades this weekend to leadscrews, a heated bed and a fan as well as some new carriages. Everything is put back together and looks great but when I go to run the printer I hit issues.
I'm using Slic3r>Pronterface>MarlinV.9>Sanguinolou 1.3a
I can control/jog the printer fine and heat up the bed and nozzle

I haven't tried the troubleshooting you mentioned but I bet you I did disconnect without powering down at some point. I dont necessarily remember taking precautions otherwise.
I'll try some troubleshooting but put a driver on order just to be safe.
Thanks for the feedback.

I know there was a very recent thread about this but I think I have determined my problem to be different from that one.
Finally got my 1.3a board all wired up and started testing all of the steppers. I tried the X first and had some issues but then set the current and all was good. The X-axis ran fine and moved in both directions.
I went through and did all the other axes, some I tested indepe

Thanks a bunch for the info, especially about the USBTinyISP.
I'll try and get my hands on another programmer and see what I can do. At least I have the 644 working. A project for the future!

Thanks for the advice.
Using Print Run I've gotten the 644 to be recognized. Still don't have a PSU to test steppers but a therosistor on the input pins shows a value change on Print Run.
On to more powerful things! I think I've gotten the bootloader onto the 1284 fine but am having trouble with uploading the firmware now. I seem to keep getting errors about a lack of pin definitions.

So, I got the USBtiny but am still having trouble with the 1284P. I gave up on that for now and just tried to get the 644P up and running. I burned the bootloader using AVRdude and then flashed the firmware using Arduino0023. It said done uploading without any errors but I dont know how to verify that this worked. I opened ReplicatorG set the port to my port and machine to reprap5d but it didn't

Thanks all for the advice!
Three really great options to try. I found an atmel avr programmer at work but had trouble figuring out how to use the fuse settings from boards.txt. I have a friend who will be loaning me both a USBtiny and a 16mHz resonator (I only have the one on the Sanguinololu board). Hopefully I can get one of these options to work. As I don't have everything I need at home I wil

I just finished building my board and ordered a 644p and 1284p chip to use.
I tried burning the bootloader and also uploading the firmware today but ran into trouble all along the way. I think I may have burned the bootloader right but now I am even doubting that. Can anyone point me in the direct of the bootloader they used for the 1284p? I am using Arduino 1.0, perhaps that is part of the prob

Looking to start construction on a Mendelmax as my first printer and as such I will need the plastic bits. Looking to purchase these but they are hard to find. Anyone want to make a couple bucks and help a new printer into the world?
