Hi everyone, I have a Mendel90 dibond, the original kit from nophead, pretty much stock setup with J-Head, Melzi board etc that I do not use anymore. I have not used it for a while, but it has ran perfectly for several years until I had some printing issues. I was suspecting a clogged hot end or something similar, but never investigated it. It anyone on this forum were interested in it to givby joedassin - For Sale
Hi Chris, thanks a lot for your feedback, it is very reassuring. I re-assembled everything, and everything seems to work fine after a couple of prints. Thanks again ! Adrienby joedassin - Mendel90
Hello all, After several years of good services, the wades block of my mendel90 broke. I got a new one printed by a friend of mine, and started the replacement operation. When I disassembled the extruder assembly, I noticed that some material had flowed along the hot end. I thought it was PLA that had flowed during a failed print, so I heated it to remove it softly. I understood it was not PLby joedassin - Mendel90
It is working now, thank you very much !!!by joedassin - Mendel90
Hi, 4 years after leaving my Mendel90 in my garage without touching it, I decided today to restart it... Having a new PC, I have tried to connect it to the printer through Pronterface, but I have failed. Pronterface says "Connecting..." but nothing happens then. I noticed in the instructions that a USB FTDI driver was required for the serial port to appear, so I installed it from the arduino fby joedassin - Mendel90
Hi, I had to change a bearing of my X carriage about 2 months ago. Now one of the Y carriage bearing seems to be damaged (grinding sound). I have been running my machine for less than a year, and I do not think I printed more than 20kg... However I do not remember having put oil at any moment... Other than that, is any preventive maintenance advised ?by joedassin - Mendel90
Thanks to all of you for your feedback. I have printed a part similar to this one : And the problem seems to be solved. You were right Nophead, I also had a winding issue, because later on another part was not finished because the filament was stucked on the spool. I have not found any other solution than checking it every 10 minutes to make sure everything was well...by joedassin - Mendel90
Hello all, I have experienced a new issue recently : the ptfe tubing is getting pulled by the extruder inside the hole of the wades block. So it is getting damaged, and then the pla is stucked by the deformation of the tubing : I have tried to cut the end of the tubing to have it clean. But after a while it occured again. Does anyone have any idea of the cause ? Or any solution ? Thanks !by joedassin - Mendel90
I have found this on Thingiverse : It looks interesting, but there is a risk to melt the part (specially in PLA), isn't there ?by joedassin - Mendel90
Hi all, I am starting to learn how to use Openscad, as a former mechanical designer I am much more used to software such a ProE or Solidworks... My first attempt was to open a file I took from Thingiverse, and to modify it. I tried to make a small hole inside, but the whole file got damaged (see the attached picture). Can anyone help me ? How to modify an existing file ? Thanksby joedassin - OpenSCAD
We'll try that, thank you Chris ! By the way we have damaged the glass while unsticking a part : a piece of glass came with the printed part... For the moment we plan to flip it, but we may need to replace it if it happens again. Can we buy any kind of glass, or is it specific ?by joedassin - Mendel90
hi, Thank you all for your answers. We have made additional trials, and got pretty good results with vinegar... even too good actually, as it became almost impossible to unstick the part from the bed. Any tip for that ?by joedassin - Mendel90
Hi all, After having printed successfully 2 androids, I am having serious adhesion issues. First layer is not sticking at all to the glass. I am trying several solutions : acetone, alcool, dish washing liquid, etc... but every unsuccessful trial causes a mess of plastic that takes me a long time to clean before the next trial. So I am looking for an emergency stop command that would not requirby joedassin - Mendel90
