Pololu only has the Dupont connectors --- they don't have the Molex Microfit (Jr.?) connectors --- I wasted my entire morning running around town and I'm not inclined to place multiple orders --- isn't there a single vendor who has all of this in stock for a reasonable price?by WillAdams - General
What are these connectors called and where do I find matching connectors to connect this Ordbot to a Smoothieboard (Azteeg X5 mini) which doesn't have matching connectors, but instead is set up to receive raw wires. I want to use these connectors, not cut them off and start over, and I want to be able to buy matching connector sets so that I can wire up my Shapeoko 2 w/ the same wiring so that Iby WillAdams - General
I have a set of calipers. Let's turn this around --- what is the diameter of the hole in relation to the diameter of the filament? I'm guessing this extruder is set up for 3mm filament, since a #28 index drill (0.128"/3.25mm) drops all the way down. Now I just need to puzzle out nozzle diameter and thermistor... Thanks!by WillAdams - General
Here's a photograph of the hole for the filament --- I'm guessing 3mm?by WillAdams - General
I did, he's trying to look up the information --- as I noted, the machine was assembled almost two years ago --- so I'm trying to prepare a fall-back plan just-in-case.by WillAdams - General
I've just received an Ordbot. It would have been put together almost 2 years ago. The person who sent it to me referred me to this page: How can I tell what size filament it takes, what size the nozzle is, and what thermistor value I should use to commission it?by WillAdams - General
I wrote up a rough timeline of this drawing from Wikipedia: Any comments / suggestions / improvements?by WillAdams - General
I've just finished converting a Shapeoko 2 into a 3D printer by: - bolting on an extruder (a Greg's Wade Reloaded Extruder (from kbot3d)) - wiring up a hot-end (J-Head Mk V-BV 1.75mm hotend from hotends.com) - replacing the Arduino/gshield w/ a Smoothieboard (Azteeg X5 mini) Using a multimeter I was able to verify continuity for the motor connections okay, but I'm not completely understandby WillAdams - General
Still trying to wrap my mind around this. I want to convert a Shapeoko 2 to 3D printing. There's not much on the wiki: I've gotten past the obvious: * Extruder --- got a Greg's Wade Reloaded Extruder * Hot End --- got a J-Head Mk V-BV 1.75mm hotend from hotends.com * Stepper Motor --- NEMA 17 motor w/ a body 40mm or shorter (62 oz 1.7a model?) --- CanaKit Stepper Motor with Cable And have alby WillAdams - CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping
I've been wanting to turn a ShapeOko into a 3D printer for a while. While there's a page on one technique for this on the ShapeOko wiki: it's based on a controller which few people use. I made a page for this on the ShapeOko wiki: and linked to it from the MillStrap page. Ideally I'd like to see some inexpensive kit which would allow one to simply bolt an extruder onto the Spindle Mount Platby WillAdams - General
Well, the name got changed --- it's now ``Digital Fabrication'' --- if anyone has 200+ rep on other SE sites, and is interested and hasn't committed, please go to:by WillAdams - General
Or, maybe not. Anyway, there's been an effort to re-work / re-do the vote. If you're interested in the idea of a Digital Fabrication or Fabrication & Manufacturing site on Stack Exchange, please visit: and vote up the appropriate proposal. Williamby WillAdams - General
I find SE useful for some things (the TeX/LaTeX area is especially so, though I wish everyone would just use comp.text.tex). Anyway, I flagged the Maker Professionals post itself for moderator attention --- hopefully that will rsult in someone else looking at it.by WillAdams - General
My thanks to both of you. I'm afraid if the atmosphere over there doesn't change I'll be with-drawing my support.by WillAdams - General
And now, the name has been unilaterally changed to ``Maker Professionals'' despite only 1 or 2 votes for some variation of that name, and scarcely 20% of the people who've committed having described themselves as professionals. Why ask for community-involvement if the site isn't community-driven?by WillAdams - General
(looked, but didn't find anything) This is currently in the ``Commitment'' phase and needs 124 more people to commit: I think it'd be a good resource and a nice repository for community-sourced answers to oft-repeated problems, but we need for the site to have more people and for the beta to go well.
