Well, things seemed great for a while after my firmware update as mentioned above. But then just today I had another freeze up. I went and turned "Wipe While Retracting" off and that fixed the problem for me. This is unfortunate cause I really like having that feature on. I still think this is a power management issue, although I cant prove it. When the machine freezes it seems to start the retby jordanD85 - Ormerod
Hi Ian, I'm using the 057a version. I think that's still the most recent version. I've not yet had a chance today to try the calibration that Ray and Chris suggested. But in the meantime, could this be a cooling issue? Should my fans be running continuously throughout the print? Has anyone experimented with slightly scaling parts up in size before slicing? I know that in large process extrusiby jordanD85 - Ormerod
Hi Guys, I just tried printing at 195C/190C and I did find that my filament is closer to 1.70mm so I changed this but alas, no improvement. My parts are still undersized. @Ray I am printing 3 of these on each trial. I'll try 5 and spacing them out. Sounds like I need to run through the calibration steps to find the extrusion multiplier. Will do this and let you guys know what I come up with. Tby jordanD85 - Ormerod
Hi Guys, I'm printing a very basic part. It's just a tube to be used as a standoff. OD 0.25" x ID 0.14" x Height 0.19". The height comes out fine but the OD and ID are both undersized. The actual printed part measures OD 0.23" and ID 0.12". Is this part just too small for the machine to print properly or am i getting some shrinking during the print? Printing in PLA at 205 degC. My Y-Belt slipped out of the gripping slot today during a large print. I came up with what I feel is a good but somewhat temporary fix. Put a bolt through the large part of the slot and tighten it down, should prevent the belt from slipping out. Hopefully this can help others before this happens during a print. To follow up on my testing, today I got a chance to roll my firmware back to the 050 version. I ran my bit of code which previously cause a freeze (see above) and IT FROZE. I was very surprised but it seems that some change in the latest firmware has fixed my problem. Re-flashed the new firmware and ran the same code, no freeze! I'm running a longer print now, we'll see if I have any additionalby jordanD85 - Ormerod
Ian, Master firmware I believe it was. And I was doubtful that it would help as well, but it seemingly HAS helped! I followed the firmware update instructions here which I believe directs me to download the master firmware. In any case, the same g file posted above is now no longer freezing! Note that I did run two small print jobs between the freezing I described earlier and updating the firmby jordanD85 - Ormerod
Hi Ian, I'm on version 0.50. I'll update to the latest right now and see if there's any effect. Jordanby jordanD85 - Ormerod
I've been dealing with this same problem today. The print hangs up at the same point in many different attempts, just like markbee. I took the 100 or so lines of code around the spot where it freezes and put the snippet in its own file. I was able to replicate the freezing this way, repeatedly. I finally isolated the freezing spot to the second line in the three wipe-while-retracting lines. So iby jordanD85 - Ormerod
