Hi, I am having problems starting off my prints with the first layer using the standard 0.24 layer height. After that everything seems ok. I have mechanically levelled the bed using m3 x 20mm bolts as described on the web-site. I follow the instructions to set the head height as written on the website but do not seem to be able to get the printer head set correctly. My eyesight plus a fairly darkby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Thanks, I looked at the gcode file and it is setting the temperature to 195. The heat drop-down in pronterface is set to 200 and the set button is in its pressed state. Despite both of those the temperature reported is 189. So I guess that the loaded gcode file overrides the pronterface UI setting. But I will check the 6 pin connector as I did not make a very good job of the connection in the firby alanbattersby - Ormerod
I have not used any external instrument, I am just relying on the temperature readings displayed on pronterface. Also using firmware 057h-dc42. Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Not really done many prints yet, but I am noticing that with pronterface pla setting of 200 , I am not getting temperature values much greater than 189. Is this my thermister under-reading or is it a lack of power from the interface? What do I trust, should I tinker with pronterface setup to up the temp to 210 or leave everything alone? Normally prints are ok except for some extruder motor stuttby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Hi, Tried it on chrome but still have same problem. I can type stuff into textbox but it is not sent to ormerod when I press Send Gcode button, also add code in dropdown is not enabled. Any idea what in my setup may be causing this? Great work so far Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Hi, Just trying latest version 0.54 with 0.57h-dc42 firmware. On a windows 8 pc using opera or firefox anything placed in textbox at top of page is not sent when the send gcode button is pressed. Also add code option in drop down gcode list is not enabled. So cannot send g31 to set probe value which I need to do as I have moved the printers position and now the readings are different. Thanks bobc, I equipped the enclosures holding the 325's with fans running off 24v, so when I change things over I can use those anyway. I would feel happier not using the duet on my Ormerod for testing, so would the Ormerod firmware work on a due board with a little rewriting of pin assignments etc ? Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Ian, Downloaded Inkskape on my PC , could load dxf but not save it in any format that DesignSpark Mechanical would import, and stl is not a save option in the windows version I am using. Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
How about printing a coarse honeycomb structure out of pla then putting a layer of silicone on that to absorb vibrations, would that work?by alanbattersby - Ormerod
I do not really know as I never put an ammeter on them when they where running but probably not as OT systems such as mine only take very light cuts so I guess I could try them out at 1 amp see if everything worked out ok. Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Thanks for the information on extruder expansion boards the EXT4 would fit the bill but not sure what processor board its an expansion too. Am I to assume a standard arduino Due header? My rose engine is not a standard engineering mill and it is used only to cut patterns on wood, so do not need stuff such as coolant, spindle etc, really just want to control 3 or 4 steppers. I am aiming for a miby alanbattersby - Ormerod
John, Thanks very much for the stl and thanks to everyone else for the comments on thermal barriers. Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Hi, I wanted to get a drawing of the bed in order to get some measurements so I can make one out of aluminium. There is an stl of the bed-rib which I can use. The Ormerod repository only seems to have bed.dfx. I am using DesignSpark Mechanical to generate the measurements, which unfortunately will not import dxf files. I cannot seem to find a tool that will convert this dfx into an stl file whichby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Hi, I did a search for Duet on all forums and as Ormerod forum was main area I thought I would as my question here. I am a newbie Ormerod owner (just did my first own design and print yesterday) but I have been playing around with CNC stuff for a few years. Before buying the Ormerod I had been thinking of moving away from a PC base for my other stuff, so I was looking a linuxcnc on BeagleBoneBlaby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Thanks, I have installed slice3R in its own folder at same level as pronterface folder. So changed paths to suit viz ../Slic3r/slic3r $s --output $o etc and it now works within pronterface. Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Thanks, I see that, but as I havent created/edited any ini files for pronterface it must be already in the files I downloaded from the repository. So I found and edited the .pronsole to give set sliceconfig ./profiles and ran again. Still get the error though paths now seem to be correct as illustrated below. Still not sure which file is missing. Just ran slic3r 1.0 RC2 on stl file and gcode geneby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Hi, I have finished commissioning and want to print the Y belt hook connectors as my first print. So I tried to load file in pronterface but am getting an error. The version is the one downloaded from the firmware repository and executed as a python program and patched as described in the fix for usb printing topic, it is not the pronterface exe. Also firmware is latest DATE:2014-01-16". Howevby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Hi, I just got to my first print which is printing out the axes compensation test pieces and noticed that as the printer zig-zags to infill the various parts, the vertical screw moved from side to side correspondingly due to some play somewhere, probably in the screw housing. Would there be some benefit to adding a piece to the top of the vertical pillar, first to constrain movement of the top ofby alanbattersby - Ormerod
May be a simple suggestion but, In the process of setting up my omerod, I have also noticed this sensitivity as I have it in a darkish bit of my office near a directional lamp. Changing the angle of the lamp makes a great deal of difference. My question is would it be sensible (make any difference or be feasible enough to try) to hang a led off the x carrier to light the area under the sensor iby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Out of interest I have tried to compile the firmware with the 1.5.5 libraries. I just get a problem with network/ethernet.sam. Eclipse is reporting Unresolved inclusion: - fatal error: lwip/src/include/lwip/netif.h: No such file or directory But it is there so anyone any idea what is going wrong? Thanks Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod
Looking at the rear of the board, there doesnt seem to be any solder in the holes under the usb connector, nor in the two holes under the SD card holder.by alanbattersby - Ormerod

I am finding the port number using the arduino 1.5.5 ide see attached screenshot but when I use this in a bossac command the port is not recognised. I am using ubuntu 13.10 is it a problem with the OS? Alanby alanbattersby - Ormerod

Hi, I am having difficulty in connecting to the due board with both arduino ide and pronterface. Arduino ide recognises ttyACM0 but the serial monitor just remains blank. Tried typing M115 but get Invalid code so time to update firmware as stated in instructions. However after closing arduino ide, when I run the bossac command using I get no device found.
