I'd want scales on the axis directly for the precise control. You could easily use cheap digital calipers with half thou resolution. They already have outputs on them for a display and people already use them as ghetto dro.by Leafy1 - CoreXY Machines
I assumed it was relevant since it was on the first page. I guess I should have liked for the date. And yes, real units, it's what we use when we make real parts in actual industry. And I'd like you to tell me how much you weigh in Newtons without having to calculate it.by Leafy1 - CoreXY Machines
Do a cantilever. The hgr15 rail will take 100 N-m of moment in that direction. In real units thats like 45 pounds at the far edge of your build plate. You step up to the hgr30 rail and you could use your build plate as a seat.by Leafy1 - CoreXY Machines
What boards support the servos and actual closed loop control? I could make a printer print a lot faster and more accurately if there was something out there that supported codes loop control.by Leafy1 - CoreXY Machines
Probably. I know how marlin works it's safe, well documented and easy to work with. But being able to reconfigure without having to recompile with a text document on smoothie sure is appealing. Having two or more firmware options for the board and knowing one has the features I want makes it much more appealing. I'm not afraid to dick around and learn new things if they're better, if I wanted soby Leafy1 - Controllers
I had been considering a real smoothieboard, but got sucked into this thread with the MKS promise and now I'm questioning if I even want to go to ANY board that uses smoothieware firmware after seeing the attitude of the devs. The only potential show stopper I have past being worried about being bullied by the dev is can end stop switches be disabled after homing? I use a 1/4" MIC-6 aluminum platby Leafy1 - Controllers
