Yes, the acrylic was so flexible that any appreciable tension on the springs would not only tighten the spring down it would also flex the acrylic up. Kind of defeats having the springs for adjustment. So, I tried keeping the tension very light on the springs but found I was always releveling the bed. I'm happy with the new aluminum carriage. I replaced the Y carriage/ bearing holder with this aluminum frame The rest of the acrylic parts are fine as far as I can tell. I was going mad trying to level the bed - even slight spring tensions would cause warpage of the acrylic. This aluminum one is much stiffer and the bearing hole cut outs and tie wrap mountings are perfect. More consistent prints! Valerieby valerieflyer - Prusa i3 and variants
The jumpers are set as shown in folgertech build manual. Is there anything wrong with changing the mm per step settings in the firmware vs changing the jumpers? I'm making pretty good prints right now.by valerieflyer - Prusa i3 and variants
You may have already figured out that they changed the design, but not the build manual. The bearings just sort of sit in slots in the acrylic (aluminum in your case) and are tie wrapped in place.by valerieflyer - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi, I recently bought the folgertech i3 and was a frustrated at first with prints not sticking and the scale being wrong. Prints came out half scale. I made many blobs of ABS! To get it working well - I did the following things. 1. mounted printer on 3/4 MDF with 1/8" thick aluminum angle brackets attached to the threaded rods running below the Y axis rods. 2. used longer screws to attach thby valerieflyer - Prusa i3 and variants
I also have a folgertech Prusa i3 and had a similar problem. Unfortunately, you probably have blown pins on the Arduino Mega. I had an assembly oops - it is easy to plug something backwards. The controller is very intolerant of miswiring. I replaced the controller and two of the motor driver boards and now everything is working. Plugging the end stop connector backwards will definately blowby valerieflyer - Prusa i3 and variants
