Programming a PIC

The RepRap project uses PIC microcontrollers as the processors for each control board. These need to be loaded up with the appropriate firmware before they will operate properly.

You will need:

Insert the chip

Program the firmware

You'll need the firmware files. We have instructions on how to compile them.

These files are now available for download from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=159590&package_id=188575 . This avoids the need to compile them yourself.

Further, pre-programmed PIC chips with this firmware already loaded into them can be purchased from the new RRRF store. This options avoids the need for any PIC programming by the end user (RepRap constructor) at all.
