Print Quality
August 13, 2012 06:02PM
Hi-

I built my Prusa in may and have used it to make random (non mechanical) things. e.g. a model of a dinosaur for a friend...

But I want to get my printer operating at the best quality it can do for actual parts/part assemblies.

I want to know every factor to change and how to make my printer to print high quality parts.

The most important things in my opinion that affect quality, in order, are calibration, layer height, and nozzle size.

What would you recommend as layer height for a .35mm nozzle?

I use 0.2mm layers with my 0.35 and 0.4mm nozzles.

I've Been Searching Around the Forums for a little bit now, is anyone able to point me in the right direction for some more detailed instructions on how to calibrate the Prusa Mendel?

Im using RAMPS 1.4 on an ATMEGA2560 with Pronterface and Slicr

here is a 3-part series from RichRap, after reading and doing that your printer should be working rather well, then the tweaking begins smiling smiley
