Shrinking issue

Hi fellow RepRappers!

I'm having some issues on large prints. The first few layers tend to shrink a lot during the print (while the following layers remains ok). A picture is worth a thousand words, so here it is:



This issue does not happen on smaller prints.

I'm printing PLA with a Mendel. The heated glass is set to 65 and the hot end to 185.


Any help would be much appreciated!

I concur. Drop down a few degrees at a time till the problem goes away. I had the same problem with ABS prints I found 5c made the difference,
