question about what kind of thermistor to use

so, does it matter what kind i get as long as it is 100k NTC?

for instance, why is this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/100K-High-Stability-NTC-Thermistor-1-25mm-RepRap-Prusa-Mendel-Bed-and-Hot-End-/120977638662?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2ad44506

so much more expensive than this one:

is it just mark up or will the cheaper ones not work and i need a more expensive glass one?

I'd stay away from the grain of rice sized ones, they are a pain in the ass.
I'd pick one that has an entry in the firmware you're going to use, I have tried both Honeywell and epcos, both work fine for me.

I will second the honeywell and epcos. Various things can affect price. Mainly though, it depends on where you get them.

I just broke one of the rice grain thermistors, ordered the Honeywell as replacement for my J-head.

just realized those links are the same. i meant this as the other one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-x-100K-OHM-NTC-Thermistor-5mm-FREE-SHIPPING-/280826626432?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4162924180

they are both 100k ntc but the price difference is huge. and what is a rice grain one?
