ramps 1.4 board led blinking

Hey All,

The red led on my prusa with ramps 1.4 electronics blinks while printing. It blinks about as fast as the green led when uploading firmware. Didn't see this when using sprinter firmware, just with the marlin firmware I recently loaded. Any ideas on what this means?

I think it is showing you the control to the heater MOSFET. Is it on solid while the heater is heating?

It did not begin to blink until the heated bed reached 105C. The led your referring to does light when the heated bed is heating, and is separate from the led that I'm referring to.

According to schematic LED4 is tied to digital PIN 10 which is assigned to EXTRUDER 1 heater in pins.h

It blinks because that is the way PID temperature control works in Marlin.
The frequency of blinking should stay fixed, with the duty cycle changing.

As it approaches the target temperature, the duty cycle will get shorter and shorter, transitioning from always on to blinkier and blinkier.

That is exactly what happens. Thanks for the explanation orcinus.
