Just hit the news yesterday and it looks awesome. It has a lot of new features that are down right innovative. Click on my link to check it out:

Has the patent on heated build chambers already expired, or are these guys just ignoring it? I'm having trouble finding the patents while on mobile.

I'm not sure I'll have to check.

There are some great improvements with this design but I wonder if they will warrant the added expenses. The only thing I would change is the small build platform, with a heated chamber I would think you could easily get to 400x400x400.

Or larger even, especially at 70C! I'm running a machine in a 40C chamber and getting zero warp.

Another thing - how long are those acrylic panels going to last? Doesn't that stuff warp pretty badly when exposed to high heat?

Lastly, how insulative are those panels? How much heat is radiated into the environment? The running costs for that machine must be pretty staggering compared to a regular reprap.

All that aside, it looks pretty badass...

I agree I thought they had some well thought out good ideas but a really small print platform especially for the size of the machine. I can almost bet that the cost will be at least in the $2-3k mark. I just like to see the new things that are being developed. It always gives me ideas of ways to build mine better. I kinda like the water cooled hot end, but things like that take up space and water + electronics = no good. Of course it has been perfected in many other applications.

That thing's enormous.!

Those cable/hose guides look like they would add to the axis weight and limit the speed.
Water cooling is a good idea to make the heated chamber practical without causing a raft of other issues.

Ya they took those cable chains from cnc use. They are used on almost every cnc. They do help your wiring against internal fraying as well as keeping everything repeatable. I just don't know that with this use if its more of a benefit or a downfall.
