How to apply kapton tape to glass plate?

Does anyone have a particular way to apply kapton tape to the sheet of glass on top of the heatbed?

Any videos/pictures? I don't want to put it on wrong, finding out I need to remove it all and do it again.

I also use the same techniques as the videos posted above. I was applying ~19cm x 19cm sheets with the same method. The key is to really make sure the glass is wet - essentially a layer of soapy water over any point where the tape meets glass.

I'm not sure if kapton and PET are both equally difficult to apply, but I've had problems in the past geting bubble free PET down on my large aluminum build plate (has a "sticket" heated bed stuck underneath it to heat it up). the best method Ive found that I use is to put down a layer of painters tape, and then apply the PET tape on top of that and it works like a charm.

I have good result using cheap baby wet wipesspinning smiley sticking its tongue out. Just wipe glass lay the tape leave for a couple of min lay the next.

Is painters tape heat resistant?

I have found that using the wet method plus heating the plate up pretty warm (hot) will allow the tape to settle down nicely and when cooled the tape has pulled very tight and no bubbles.
I stopped using kapton tape after I found that glue sticks work better for me, easy to apply, easy to remove the part, not issues in use at all. Also very cheap and easy to find at most office supply stores.

I moved to 'Ipad protection film' from kapton tape.
Most of protection film comprised of two different kind sheet, you can peel off thinner vinyl like sheet which is too sticky for heat bed purpose.
The remaining PET(I think) film is better than kapton tape in my experience.
ABS sticks well and peel off by itself when bed temperature going town under 40 degree.
I don't apply any aceton or ABS juice most cases.

Only problem is some warp when printing small model that is less than 25~30mm.
In that case, little aceton could be cure for it.

I'm not sure all of protection films in the market does work, but worth trying.

I put a layer of blue painter's tape underneath the kapton. No bubbles.

Could I still heat up the heatbed if it had blue painters tape on it?

I usually print with PLA and I always heat the bed around 50-60C. I also know people who use blue tape + kapton and they print with ABS @ 110C(?). One of the biggest reasons to use blue tape with kapton is that it gives a slightly spongy surface -- so I find that it's more forgiving to the height. It also keeps my kapton from getting scuffed up, so it lasts longer too.

What thickness of kapton do you use? I got some samples from dupont that are 5mils, then I just use contact cement to apply it to my print bed, It works pretty well, the only issue is it can rip if you try to remove the part with a razor blade.
