Elementary Season2e1 - spoilers inside!

Ok I have to vent about this.

It took almost 6 months and I presume enough potential controversy in the US to have the episode shot in London but there is was. He quickly printed a plastic gun shot his wife and disolved the gun in accetone in a few minutes before the cops showed up. Luckily a secret organisation tracks the sale of all 3D printers and resulted in revealing the smoking hot end.

It's fiction I know it you know it, but the public doesnt.
The coroner must have been a complete idiot there would have been no groves on the bullet. The perpetrator is smart enough to print the gun but he uses a nail from the most prominent position in the lounge and then when putting the nail back doesnt put it back in the hole it came from....

Enough it dumb and I don't want to talk about it anymore, I just had to vent to people that will be just a Pissed of about it as I am.

I didnt see whose printer he used to print it but the manufacturer is going to hit the ceiling when they see it, I would if it was mine.

This doesn't apply since he melted the object down but...

There's hidden tracking code on paper document printed with an inket or laser that ties it to the printer.
Of course our lovely community designed reprap machines wont have this but commercial machines could.

If they simply regulated the rampant sale of unlicenced nails it would also put a stop to it, oh wait dont they do that with bullets?

Act 2. Congress just passed the 3D printer ban-act, which only allows metal objects to be 3D printed. Unfortunately all of reprap uses plastic and became a black market itself. You want a 3D printer filament? You are a dirty person...might as well be dealing crack cocaine.

Enter Simba, lonely inventor of new materials. Professional metal-filled plastic filaments with iron can not go through metal detectors, or be dissolved in acetone. Metal -plastic to save the day. Congress passes the "you can only buy filaments from Simba" act, and everyone lived happily ever after
