[1] is there software that converts the model files into an accurate cg guess of what the printing will produce, i.e. accounting for the deposition thickness &shape, guessing the way it will distort/solidify... (sph,metaballs..)
[2] another CG analogy, "pixel-art" - have people ever attempt to design prospective reprap-able objects with an intended ideal nozzle-size, with alignment of details on the vertical axis to fixed integer multiples of layers...
maybe the software routinely has to do quite a bit of this.. i suppose objects would at least always have preferential printing axes based on their own surface alignments.
