Prints coming out too Large confused smiley

Hay every one I finally got my printer working!
The problem is that my printer thinks my print bed is larger than it is
And it moves about 12mm when I ask for 10 , making all my prints larger and so none of my
Filament is touching( I have empty spaces in between my extruded filament)
My z motors are moving the right distance though.
But here is the weird thing when I change the steps per mm in configuration h and reload to my board
It doesn't change anything at all!

Hope this makes sense to someone.

What type of eletronics are you using?

I've had that issue with settings change not taking effect before too, I think caused by the old settings being retained in EEPROM, the workaround I used was to send
M503 ; Read out current settings - to check the new ones arn't in effect
M502 ; Revert to "factory settings" I.E. the new ones
M500 ; Put those settings into EEPROM
M503 ; Verify new settings are now in effect

Not sure if this is the same as your problem but hope it helps

Thank you for the responses i am using ramps1.4 with arduino mega 2560

Also Thank you Azrael it worked!
I am now REALLY printing

The only problem i am having is that every once in a while my hot end stops working and i have to shut every thing off for a little while.
I do have a fan on my electronics and nothing seems to be getting to hot.

Any one know what this is?

keeps saying it is still givving the hot end power but the temperature will start to plummit about 2 minutes in to a print.

What power supply are you using, what is it´s rating?
Does it fail ?(clicking sound)

You should add more infos (printer, firmware etc.) if you seek help. There are too many possible sources.

1.75mm ABS,

MG Plus .35mm hotend

360 watt 12v power supply(that isn't failling)

ramps1.4 with arduino mega 2560

Repeiter host V0.90C

4x A4988 stepper drivers

5x nema17 31.3ncm stepper motors

3 mechanical endstops

1x Greg's extruder

small fan on hot end

larger fan on electronics

motors run pretty hot

i think that it except my hot end keep cutting out more often,Is it possible i fried it?

I don't think i have a bad heater because i don't get any power when it is supposed to be heating.
I feel like it is the resettable fuse due to how i can get it working again.
my power supply is putting out the right amount of voltage(12.40v)

baud rate 76800(supposedly best for arduino)

really don't want to change the fuse

And also is it normal for a complete beginner to fight there machine for months just to get it moving and then have it only work for one print?

I figured it out i had a fan on the whole thing that was cooling the fan down faster than it could heat up!

Thanks for the help

i had that problem too - I bought some high temperature silicone and stuck it to my nozzle to act as an insulator.
I'm sure there are more elegant methods of insulating a hotend nozzle, but chrome don't get you home!
