PLA production using E.coli

Hey,
Check out these links, a Korean team has designed a one stage process for making PLA. Instead of fermenting lactic acid and then doing some other process to polymerise it, the E.coli just does it all.
Sounds like good news for PLA being cheap and widely available in the future .
