I think the industry would benefit as a whole if these manufactures would drop the silly names

What would they call their products then? A company needs a unique name to set it apart from its competitors. And there are so many printers out you can't really use a generic name.

Are you talking about manufacturer's silly names, or the product's silly names? Because I'm going for both for what I'm designing. I think it's rather clever. Especially since there's only so many ways to call a box/bot that makes things.
