Can I make my McWire bot base out of wood instead of steel tubes?

Also, Does anyone know where I can get all the circuit boards with complete assembly made? This way I can just attached the boards when I'm done and wire the thing up. Looks like RepRap provides us with the Gerber files. Will that suffice?

You can buy the complete electronics here. The only soldering is the endstops, which is easy enough. AFAIK, MakerBot is the only place you can get fully assembled electronics.

I have no problem buying the electronics from Makerbot, however, I just looked at the Makerbot store and it looks like they are sold out of most items.

I really would rather not wait until February to get this project done.
