McWire CNC

I started off building the McWire RepStrap, but I've decided I want to be able to do CNC milling with the dremel attached instead. I'm not done my build but I have purchased the Makerbot RepRap Motherboard 1.2,

Can I drive the mill using this Motherboard and the Maerbot stepping controllers if I'm not using the Extruder? Since I'm removing material instead of laying down plastic will it work, or do I need to buy CNC specific controllers to interface with. Can I use CNC software like Mach3???

... the electronics are the same for fabbing or milling ...

The Software differs in generating additive or subtractive paths, but the controlling of the axes is the same.

What's the biggest difference: - you need a stiff/rigid frame and fixture for the mill or it would vibrate and bend so your paths/dimensions won't be very precise ...
