Pause Print automatically in Pronterface / Printrun

I am fighting a multi-material print. I need to change filament at 30mm print height. I have tried M226 in the gcode, I have also tried to simply insert the word pause in the line gcode.

I am using Printrun / Pronterface and typing pause in the console causes a pause .. but it does not seem to work if in the gcode.

Without watching the print, which I really don't want to do, how do I insert a pause in the gcode so I can switch the filament and hit the resume button in pronterface to keep going???

I have searched all over and can find no clear guidance. Please help.

M226 pauses till the specified pin reaches the specified state. If no pin is specified, the code is ignored. You'll need to wire up a switch to a spare pin on your electronics.

Pause from pronterface works because it keeps the host from sending code, so the printer stops. AFAIK theres no way to tell pronterface to stop on a given line. You could, however, split the gcode into two files, print one, when that finishes you change the filament and print the second file.
