Error: no checksum with line number, last line 41

Hi Everyone,
I have finish assembling my 3d printer and am trying to install it but was receiving the following error

Error: no checksum with line number, last line 41
Resend:42

Secondly the Extruder 1 xxxx/190

The xxxx temperature keeps increasing above the 190 that was set as the maximum temperature. It rose to about 700.

Please can someone help me resolve this problem.

what software are you using? I know with repetier, ive seen some firmware versions require a line number preprended to a command and a checksum appended to the end. Try using repetier host to interface with it, see if you have any luck. Also check your hot end for damage, 700c is pretty high, if it really got there, probably did some damage
