Lack of torque in 1 out of my 5 motors

Hi, guys, I just finished to built and wired my new 3d printer, it's exactly the same as my previous one which I am really happy with.
I have a lack of torque in one of the stepper, they are all the same 42byghw609 motors, they use all the same microstepping (1/16) But one of them has a poor torque despite whatever the potentiometer position is on the stepstick.
I am using ramps 1.4 with marlin inside.
When playing with the potentiometer i can go from no torque at all, to a light one.
Comparing to the other motors it's only the half...
I tried to change the stepstick... same problem...
All the jumpers are well placed ...
And the axis move the required distance at low speed.
But when I increase the print speed I have missing step...
It's hawfull I can't print quicker than 20mm/sec sad smiley
Any ideas from where it could be from?

Did you try switching motors instead of switching stepper drivers?

Maybe it's the motor and not the stepper driver.

Can it be that for that specific axis there is a typing error in the firmware steps/mm?

Did you try changing cables completely?

Hi thanks for the reply, as It 's newly wired and pretty nicely done, I dont really want to change wires, but the axis with troubles is X, so I plugged the motor X in the Y Slot and I got some torque, so it should be proper to the x part...

Well, then maybe you still have to take apart things, maybe there is a trace of solder shorting out something on the Ramps? If everything from the stepper driver to the stepper motor is ok, I can not think otherwise than that it's probably the Ramps that has a problem?

Oh no, that is terrible. I had the same problem with the first printer I ever bought. Bought a kit to be safe, but then it ended up being all mixed stuff... Good luck with the belts, and good you found out! smiling smiley
