Reprap for roleplaying game pieces.

Hey there, I am considering building my own reprap machine but before investing the time and money to do so I'm wondering if anyone else has done what I plan to do and can tell me about their experience. I would like to use it to create Role Playing Game objects such as buildings, figures, textured floors, treasures ect. If you have done this can you tell me about your experience in doing so. Would you recommend it to someone else? I'm still searching around for pictures so I can get an idea of the level of detail that a typical reprap machine will produce. Can you post a link to an example that might be of interest to me?

hey bob

I do think reprap can make the pieces that you are thinking of.

I imagine the most difficult aspect would be to model the piece in some 3D package. I imagine you would have to be fairly expert in said package smiling smiley

I have no doubt that reprap could make the pieces that I want. I want to know more about what quality I could expect.

Here are a few examples you might like:

The quality depends on how well you are able to tune in your printer, but even more on the size of the objects you want to print, and the amount of post processing you are willing to do.

I'd say go ahead. If it turns out the current version of RepRap won't satisfy all your needs, you can use it to print the next version which will with no doubt be able to print in higher resolution. And so on ... smiling smiley

Nudel, those images are pretty cool. I'm thinking your right. I think that Reprap would also be a cool hobby in it's own right.

My point exactly! You can use your RepRap for so many incredible things, there's no need to restrain yourself to 'only' making RPG objects smiling smiley
