Print fails after 5 or 6 layers

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me with my Replicator 2.
I am having a struggle trying to get to the bottom of this issue.
The print starts off great, the raft and first 5 or 6 layers print fine, then there seems to be a bit of under-extruding going on for a few layers, and then finally it stops extruding all together.
This printer has been working great for a year or more, with no issues, and then this started out of the blue a week ago. I have tried the following to solve the problem with no improvement at all;
1/ I replaced the nozzle.
2/ I put a new roll of material on.
3/ I increased the temperature.
4/ I put a new stepper motor on.
5/ I swapped out the E and Z stepper drivers.

I have noticed that the stepper motor gets extremely hot.

Any ideas gratefully received.

My best guess would be a clogged hotend.

Try something like this Clean Hotend

Hope that helps.

When I changed the nozzle I checked and cleaned the hotend.

My guess would have been not enough filament to extrude, but raising the temperature should have fixed that.

What kind of hot end do you have? Is it possible that by the 5th to 6th layer heat has crept up the hot end enough to cause a temporary jam?

Just noticed that your stepper motor is getting hot. Do stepper motors shutdown when overheated or just keep going? Perhaps double check the voltage on your motor driver, possibly even decreasing it. Also consider adding a fan or heat sink to your motor itself.
