Wood Filament

I have seen several wood effect filaments advertised. Seems to be PLA with either bamboo or hardwood filler.

Anybody recommend a good one?

I have just built a 3d scanner and I fancy doing a "mini me" in wood effect.

I've read good things about Hatchbox wood filament, not sure what kind of wood it is though.

Edit: may want to stick with a .5mm nozzle for wood btw

I've used this one EBay wood filament it gives good results with 0.5mm nozzle. It behaves just like pla but as the filament is rough to the touch I use much lower esteps around 25% less as it is gripped much better by the extruder. The parts have a textured finish and smell of wood. You can make them darker with a higher temperature as the wood filler chars more in the nozzle.

The parts are nowhere near as precise or smooth as pla/abs so useless for machine parts, but I use it to make wooden railway tracks for my son. It would make really nice looking cases for lcds or scanners etc.

OK thanks guys.

I am in the UK and the Excelvan wood filament is more readily available. I am going to give it a go.

I have just assembled a 3d body scanner and want the head and body scans to look more like a wood carving.
