3D Scanner from kinect (microsoft)

Here is the winner of the Open Source Kinect driver contest. It can talk to the video camera and the depth analizer array.

How about using this for a 3d scanner???

Also the contest only lasted about 1 week. I love it when a plan comes together. We have a plan right....

"What Box?"

I thought the same thing when I saw it. I think it has a 1cm resolution, so you couldn't get that great of detail, but could be interesting for scanning really big things.

so far from what little i have seen there are allot of people that are pretty sure that the 1cm resolution is there theoretical best, but i don't know much about it yet. i would think it would be 2 at best my self but even with that, it is more than good for allot of new things.
