Silicone heater bed power rating

I got this some time ago: [store.quintessentialuniversalbuildingdevice.com]

CIRCULAR 24V SILICONE RUBBER HEATER BED 200MM DIAMETER (8") - Draws Up to 12 Amps So Make Sure Your Power Supply Can Handle It...a 350W+ or Dedicated 24v Power Supply is Recommended

Does that mean it draws ~288W with a power density of ~0.9W/cm2?

Yes. That's a very high power density, so I suggest you turn down the power supply voltage if you can. That amount of power would normally be used for a 300mm bed, not 200mm.

Is there any way to verify if the power density is indeed ~0.9W/cm2?

I have some doubts as many other similar silicone heater beds are only around half the power density.

Measure its resistance with a multimeter, then you can work out the heating power at 24V.

Thanks for the help.

The resistance is 4.5 Ohms. At 24V, the heater will draw ~5.3 Amps; or 128 Watts putting it at ~0.5W/cm2.
