Extruder head

Last night I was able to cut the extruder screw drive bearings in seconds. I just placed the bearing into a pair of vice grip pliers setting it so it hold firm but not crush the bearing. Then I held it against a bench grinder for a few seconds and cleaned it up with a small file. It worked so well and so quickly, maybe someone could just make dozens of these at a time and send them to Zach to put in the kits instead of the whole bearings.

Yeah, that's the same method I used for my bearings. I had to turn them down on lathe, part them off, and then grind them down to halves. Very easy and quick.

that would be awesome!

what did you use as bearing stock? did you use the small circle bearings/spacers that came in the extruder kit?

Yes. I used the bearings from the kit.

Kept telling Zach he needs a grinder in his shop winking smiley I need to shop for one myself.

Cheap!, can you possibly post photos of your technique?

We can take some photos to post next time we cut bearings. If you have some that need to be cut, bring them with you and we'll take photos this weekend.
