Has been released. It has a new plugin for Custom_Supports.
That I find useful for saving material and 3D Printer time.

Does it still take 3 minutes to load, and fraks up every 3rd usb print?
Also does it still wipe out all your settings that take 30 minutes to setup?
Are these 'features' that other people asked for, or just a bonus?


I'm still using 14.x, loads in 4 seconds, functions consistently.

if your still running a 286, yes

On my really old crappy laptop It takes 20 seconds to load (granted it Linux so 10x faster than windows)
(Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz P8600 @ 2.40GHz)

To me It sounds like your machine is seriously broken.. no one else is having these issues.

Have never experienced these problems. Use OctoPrint hence USB and have never experienced A USB failed print.
All computer Equipment is on APC UPS battery backups systems, (Even the TV set and DVR)
And it take less than 30 sec on windows 7 Pro too load.

Yes I use Cura 15.04.6 for simple slicing projects, Why because It was here first and it's customization is quickly setup.
Though more complex 3D Objects print quicker with special treatment using changeable layer heights, and manual support structures ect....

2.x versions indeed had loading performance issues, but with the last couple version the startup time has been optimized.

I run 2.x on my 32 bit laptop and dont have any severe load time issues. A couple of minutes at most but I have an overworked netbook. Kudos to the dev, this is a feature I hear a lot of people asking for and seems to be the only thing I hear about S3D. I personally loathe supports and go to ridiculous lengths to avoid them so its not a big feature for me but I do love stuff like adaptive layer heights and the cool cubic subdivision infill cura has.

Is there a debug mode?
Or do I have to get a whole python dev environment loaded?

USB locks are probably a driver problem, but what if win7 pro says it has the latest driver?
USB nonresponse causes me to have to restart the app, that where the long start time sucks.

I'll head over to cura with some real start times this weekend.

Curious sidenote; anyone know why the java host reprap slicer was dropped? I looked at the sources and its built to java1.5, i.e. really old.
some mega/core problem no one could work around? or just fell out of favor? I can work java much, much faster than python.

Can't say I've heard of a web based slicer written in java.

Now that you mention it though, I've had trouble connecting my printer to cura through usb. That being said I'm inclined to believe it's an issue with the printer since its very particular about what order I plug in and turn everything on even when I'm using repetier host.

EDIT: this reminds me, has anyone tried iceSL? It's a slicer with some neat features, but it has a 3d modeler based on openscad built in. Unfortunately I don't think it's open source despite using openscad within their program.

Went to Youtube watched many videos of IceSL in operation look like something I could use. Was thinking that learning scripting would give me something to speedup creating Models..

Downloaded IceSL installed and executed. ERROR did not like my Nvidia Video Card. So how did I like it Can not say did not run on my Computer.

Tried again with IceSL_win32.exe Avast would not let the program install.

Downloaded oldest version Could find, did not work.

My current video card supports OpenGL 3.0

Download took 2 minutes, but at 100% stopped for 4-5 minutes, dunno why

Now for the Other News
Cura 3.4.0 and OctoPrint Plugin (As I don't know which is the cause)

Cura 3.4.0 Main Window File Menu
Click Settings
Select 3D Printer (My printers Names are (Red or Blu))
Click Settings
Click Manage Printers

Preference windows
Select Printer (Red or Blu) Click Activate

Connect to OctoPrint Window
Select Printer (Red or Blu) Click Connect
API Key on this window will only except one API key and place it on both 3D Printers

Cura 3.1.0 Will Still except a different API for both 3D Printers.

What Up!!!
Does Cura 3.4.0 work different than Cura 3.1.0? Or is OctoPrint not allowing the second API to be saved.
I can load two instances of Cura 3.4.0 and connect each to a different octoprint API and 3D Printer. Though only one API Can be saved.
I do not like loading Octprint and acquiring the API on every connection for Cura 3.4.0.
I still prefer Cura 3.1.0 which allow for saving both Octoprint PI's API's.
