open scad help

Hello,

i havent posted in a while, i am in summer classes currently. if anyone remember's i was last working through issues with techzone. i have finally printed with my reprap and have the monolithic board working well. i just need to get skeinforge working and i should be making better quality parts. Now i have begun trying to learn how to use openscad. my question is in regards to rendering and compiling. when i do the difference command, it merely just makes the shape green, and does not cut it away. i wanted to know how i could actually make it subtract the space. i couldnt really find much for documentation on openscad.

thats what i was pressing. i copied and example and have been using that. no idea why its different but its working now i guess. thank you though

thank you, this should give me a better foundation i dont know how i missed the makerbot ones before. ive just been using the wikipedia one
