SAE wade's extruder/ hotends

Hello,
I am looking into building a reprap and have been looking at the Wade's extruder. I am a little lost. is there an SAE extruder for an SAE Prusa or are they the same? Also, Where might I get the hotend that is both cheap but reliable. This is my first 3d printer. Do you reccomend Wade's or Adrian or any other extruder? I really need help I have figured out the rest I am planning on using a ramps board. If you have any advice please let me know.

Wildseyed has a hotend I believe he sells.

The J-Head hotend (USA) and the ParCan hotend (UK) are reviewed/compared here
(more videos on his channel that lead to this one).

Or you can get one from MakerGear.

And you should consider Greg's extruder.

I like Greg's hinged extruder design but you do lose some build height as a result of the tilted motor so I ended up using the standard Wade design with the extra plastic on motor endcut off.

As for hotend, I just ordered the Budaschnozzle design from Luzbot for $75 assembled because if looks like it has a very good thermal isolation between the nozzle (hot end) and the extruder (cold end).

That does look nice. Then again I like the looks of the Arcol hotend as well.

I wish the video was longer^^^

It makes sense since the Budaschnozzle is based on the Arcol design.

SO does a metric extruder work on SAE prusa?

Since the only difference is the fasteners used, yes. The holes for mounting the extruder should be almost the same size.

the only thing the hot end connects to is the filament drive block which is a printed part... anything listed here will work. I have all of them smiling smiley

I get excellent prints with the Arcol one, the Adrians hot end v3, and at least 2 versions of the jhead.

I personally recommend pointing a small fan (can be ripped out of any electronics like an old computer) at the insulating barrel for doing PLA prints, it helps keep the pla from swelling before it gets to the nozzle.

Also, even if bolts dont match up nicely for whatevr one you're doing (The arcol bolts can be odd on certain filament drives) I've had great success using picture hanging wire to secure the hot end. I've done this on many extruders now and never had an issues with it.
