Slicing issue

I've been struggling trying to get the host software to work (part of reprap-mendel-20100308.zip), but it's producing some very wierd results. This is one of the less-problematic examples (notice the thick wall):
It should look like this (thin wall):
MeshLab reports that the STL is two-manifold. Does anyone know what what's causing this?
