Brushless cooling fan

Has anyone ever tried to run a brushless fan from ramps 1.4? I have a few that I believe are brushless because they have a white signal wie in addition to red and black wires. I would like to use one to cool my stepper drivers if possible. Any ideas would be great.

They are easy to use. In fact they are the most common type of fan. The extra wire is just an rpm sensor and can be ignored.

You can plug one into the 12v aux pins between the fuses and the x axis driver.

Really? I didn't think it would be that easy. That's awesome. Thanks lazzymonk.

I have read that you can wire the fan to the D9 terminal and you can control it with g Code. Is this possible with the aux pins you mentioned?

If you're using the fan to cool your electronics, you want it on all the time, so use the Aux pins (which is always on).

If you're using the fan to cool your print, you want it on when G-code tells it, so use D9 (which is a switched output).
