v1.2 RepRap Mother Board compatible with V1.2 Stepper Motor Driver Boards?

Hey Guys.

I've been in the process of building my RepStrap for over a year now and most of my electronics have since become out of date. I was simply wondering if the v1.2 RepRap Motherboard would work with the older version 1.2 Stepper Motor Drivers? I'm pretty sure it would work fine, but I just wanted to make sure before I commit to buying more parts. Thanks!

Hi

I was in the same situation as I bought my electronics about a year ago.
The gen 2 stuff still works fine so why not use that?

Personally I am going to build a Mendel once I am happy with the build
quality of the parts from my darwin. Hopefully the Gen 4 electronics based on
the Arduino Mega will be ready by then.

Also note the standard arduino has also been upgraded this year from 16kb to 32kb.
This means that the 5d firmware software may fit in the new board.

regards

Stephen

@neitros: the pin configuration of the cable stayed the same.

@stephen: I've been using Arduino Mega all the time now. I don't believe this will be called "gen 4". It's more like a fork of the "gen 2" electronics. It's hard to put than into a linear numbering.

Hi joaz ()

Here is the makerbot website roadmap

[wiki.makerbot.com]

It talks about gen 4 electronics.

Motherboard v3.0
Status: Concept

With the recent release of the Arduino MEGA, we now have a much more powerful base to build our system upon. Not only that, but the MEGA is also officially supported by the Arduino team. This means it will be much more reliable than the venerable Sanguino that we hacked together to meet our needs.

Stephen
