Merlin Firmware
October 14, 2012 06:09PM
Hi all
I'm building a Prusa Mendel .
and I also bought the Reprap Ramps 1.4 smart LCD controller off Ebay.
in the add it says that I need Marlin firmware v3 or newer but all i can find is v1.
it would be great if someone could send me to a site that has the latest version of Merlin.

Thanks
Rick

This is the most up to date version. Don't forget to change the configuration file to match your hardware.

latest version of Marlin
Fixed the link for you smiling smiley. I'm guessing that by v3 they meant v1.0 R3.

Thanks for the quick replys.
the kit I bought is the " Ramps 1.4 ULTIMATE KIT+Smart LCD controller+3 Endstop+MK2+ 1 wiring set" made by RepRapDiscount.com

here is an extract from the Ebay add it self
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firmware, hardware and settings required:
Firmware:
You need Marlin firmware v3 or newer. If you are using older firmware, you must re-flash your board.
The latest Marlin firmware is available here: github.com/ErikZalm/Marlin
Hardware required:
- Ramps 1.4
- Mega2560 board
Configuration:
After re-flash you must edit the config.h according to my post in reprap wiki.
reprap.org/wiki/RepRapDiscount_Smart_Controller
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

with the add stating Marlin firmware v3 when it should have said Marlin firmware v1 R3
I now see why I couldn't find v3.
now I can flash my board and hopefully get the printer up and running.
Thanks again
Rick

I am building the Merlin firmware in the Atmel ID, mostly because I have a build system for that. But its coming out to big for the chip I have on my controller. Is there some space saving things I can do, like Microsoft has in the headers of there firmware (lean and mean) defines?

Teacup firmware is much smaller, like 13k to 17k binary size (depending on activated options).
