i was wondering if anyone knows if i could get marlin to send info over serial to one of these guys,www.sparkfun.com/products/10097 it would only be one way, but i have one laying around and thought it might make for a good small display on a huxly i want to get back up and running.

As far as I know serial lcds are not supported in Marlin at the moment. But it's not hard hard to implement it yourself.

Take a look at [playground.arduino.cc].

why not make it work with i2c?

i2c is supported and likely to work better than rs232 serial.

Ya know i don't see why that won't work. I will have to check the firmware on the arduino to see if it supports it out of the box.

If a guy went that rout it might not be hard to add the button inputs too. But that's more than a Lil over my head.
